About Collegiate Academy Crew

Collegiate Academy Crew was established in 2003 by. Originally rowing out of the East Avenue Pier, the program now rows out of the Larson Boathouse on Presque Isle Bay, where we share space with Mercyhurst University Rowing. Coach Jeffrey Weiss enjoyed the longest tenure of any coach in the program, steadying it and making it accessible to all for 18 years. Weiss remains an integral part of the program as an advisor, mentor, and bookkeeper.  

Collegiate Crew is not an official sport at NWPA Collegiate Academy; rather, it is a school-sanctioned student club. As such, it has never received funding from the school or school district and relies on student dues and fundraising in order to operate. Collegiate Crew is open to any student in grades 9-12 Erie County, PA because it is the only public-school based rowing team in the county (the only other high school team is at Mercyhurst Preparatory School, a private high school).
